One music video when I was 7 years old was all it took to pique my interest in guitar. After seeing Taylor Swift's rhinestone-covered guitar used in her Fearless music video, I immediately knew I had to play. After almost 365 days of badgering my mom, she finally booked one guitar lesson. She drove me there for the first time, assuming it would be the last, but I became enthralled in playing. I was determined to end up on stage like Taylor Swift was. Guitar led me to explore genres and cultures from every walk of life. Though my musical tastes and preferences have evolved since I discovered Taylor Swift, I have always been just as determined as little me was.
The people I have met along the way motivate me to be the best version of myself. Guitar has shown me that the purpose of playing isn't just getting good. The biggest reward is the community music harbors, inspiring me every day to better condition myself, my playing, and my heart.
